【講義概要】
In the languages of South Asia as well as Japanese，Korean，Turkic，Persian，there are numerous　complex predicates in which the verb is homonymous with the basic lexical item EAT. Using data primarily from the Indo-Aryan languages，Japanese，Chinese，etc.，I will demonstrate that the various meanings of EAT in EAT-Expressions are not randomly distributed across the set of EAT-expressions.
Rather the meanings can be correlated with the　types of counterpart constructions that　EAT-expressions alternate with.
